Welcome to The Lyrics of Brother. If you don't know who Brother is, you want to check out brothermusic.com, their official website. Read about them, download clips, buy their music, share, and enjoy. If you are Brother, hello, thanks for stopping by, and thanks for all the music.

I came to realize that most of Brother's lyrics weren't available on the web, and not all of their albums have lyric sheets. Additionally the lyric sheets aren't always accurate... and so here I am, with a website that's as close as I could make out.

Sources:
I didn't own Exit from Screechville when I first set this up, but I've since acquired it and corrected my initial impressions.

Black Stone Tramp I cribbed from the lyric sheet enclosed and corrected where necessary. Mostly I expanded repetition. And added what I could make out from The Clumsy Lover.

The Digging Bone, not much to say about. Many of the songs I already had from This Way Up, which I did before I got Digging Bone. Digging Bone had a lyrics sheet so actually it allowed me to correct lyrics in a few places in This Way Up.

This Way Up was tougher, being a live album. But aside from some variation most of it is the same as the non-live versions, where applicable.

Urban Cave I stole the lyrics off of the brothermusic website, and then corrected. Fragile had a lyric error on the brothermusic site, and one of the other ones had a minor error. This site restricts itself to the music as it is sung on the albums, so anywhere they are inconsistant I went with the album version. I also included as much background stuff as I could make out.

Your Backyard I copied the lyrics out of the lyric sheet, made minor changes where what was on the CD was slightly different, added background voices, you know the drill by now. There's one verse that appears in the Your Backyard lyric sheet that doesn't actually get sung, it does not appear here. I probably should have taken better notes so I'd remember what it was. I think maybe Mean To Me. And yes, there are three seperate "fly away" versions on the site. Each is slightly different from the others.

Pax Romana MMV and Rhubarb Limited Release 2: I had to give up completely for jericho, and I can't make out most of the speech in Bush Morning. Going entirely by ear here, so some bits might be wrong, but over time people have emailed corrections.

The Terrain Around Here Is Far Too Dangerous... and ...As You Were I added together. Fortunately a lot of the songs seemed not to be different from versions on other albums. A thank you to Hamish for letting me know what the heck was going on in "the machine".

out from under, I You You Me: Largely songs I already had a version of elsewhere.

from the dreamtime to the meantime and one day: This is by ear and there's a LOT I'm not sure of, so send in those corrections if you know 'em! Especially "This Land" and "The Gathering" on "one day", since they are somewhat backgrounded. "Turn Around" is straightforward except for whatever is being said in the background, which I cannot make out. Really, 'one day' is not a good fit for this website, but I'm trying to be complete.

I broke up the lyrics as I felt they broke conceptually based on how they're sung, rather than where the linebreaks are in the printed lyrics. In Dirty Reeds this got awkward on the lines "Feels like I am climbing insane while voices cheer me", but I decided to just suck it up.

If you have any corrections, suggestions, or comments, feel free to email me.

Thanks, and enjoy.

Adam
